About Us

Jack Norton Elementary School is a small, rural school located on the Yurok Indian Reservation, on the Klamath River in northern California. School enrollment fluctuates between 30 and 35 students.

Jack Norton Elementary School was built in 1959. With no electricity or telephone service, our school operates on a generator and uses radiophone service. We access internet service at the site via satellite.

The facility houses two classrooms, a library, cafeteria/gym, and small office, and has a grassy playing field for students. Our school provides a clean and safe environment for students and staff.

A large modernization project was just completed involving a new playground, new windows, and ADA compliance via new classroom sinks and cabinets. New doors and hardware will be installed to improve safety and meet ADA requirements.

Although small, we are a school rich in staff and strong with community and Tribal support.
